What's Inside:
- Community helper informational writing book
- 8 bubble maps for each community helper
- 8 Community helper writing center cards
- 8 options of community helper culminating craftivity
Community Helpers Used:
- Firefighter
- Policeman
- Doctor
- Chef
- Teacher
- Mailman
- Trash Collector
- Vet
How to use Writing Book and Bubble Map:
This will take you roughly two weeks if you spend one day on each community helper. Introduce the community helper (I check out nonfiction books from our library on each community helper). Create bubble map as a whole group on each community helper. Have students write about each community helper in their informational book. For example: I would read a firefighter book to the class, fill out bubble map together, and have students complete the firefighter page independently at their seats. The next day, we would learn about a new community helper!
How to use Writing Cards:
- Print, cut, and laminate on cardstock
- Place in pocket chart at writing center or on word wall.
How to use Craftivity:
- Have students pick one community helper they want to be when they grow up. Students will complete the sentence and color their community helper. Cut out and glue on colored construction paper to hang in hallway!
